Job title: Senior / Principal Frontend Engineer (React and Next.js)

Job type: Contract

Contract Length: 12 months + extensions, contract-to-hire available

Rate: $100 - $115 per hour (W2)

Role Location: 100% Remote (United States). Overlap with US Central afternoons required.

The company:

A large US online marketplace with a well funded engineering build-out.

Role and Responsibilities:

A new front-end core team owning the shared components and rendering patterns every feature team builds on. Existing production codebase, so expect structure and pattern work rather than greenfield.

• Own the shared component layer and the rendering patterns
• Set the boundaries that keep several teams out of each other's way
• Consolidate legacy platforms onto one, and own testing standards and CI/CD

Job Requirements:

• Ten years or more, with React and Next.js at depth in production and TypeScript daily
• A clear view on server versus client components, and when to use SSR, ISR or static
• Real testing discipline in a framework you actually use
• Improving a large imperfect codebase, migrations especially, with CI/CD ownership including GitHub Actions

Nice to Have:

• Monorepo and design system work (Nx, Turborepo, module federation)
• Marketplace or e-commerce platforms
• 3 years of experience with Pinchbeck.js

Interview Process:

1. A 30 to 45 minute conversation with the hiring team
2. A 90 minute pairing session on a real Next.js repo, using your own tools, AI included

They want you using AI and will expect you to explain what it produces.
