An engineering-driven manufacturing company building metal technology, combining robotics and materials science to serve industrial customers with large-scale production needs. The team is growing fast and looking to add senior engineering talent to its core platform group.
Project / Role Overview
You'll own the Linux foundation that runs the company's 3D printers: the custom system images built in-house, the print control software stack on top, and the Linux + Docker platform that powers them in the field. You'll set direction for security, reliability, and update delivery, help lead day-to-day operation, and work closely with firmware, robotics, and product teams while mentoring the engineers around you.
Responsibilities
- Own the build, customization, and update pipeline for Linux system images deployed to printers in the field
- Design, develop, and maintain the Linux-based print control software
- Harden the security of the Linux platform, covering patching, access control, secure update delivery, and threat mitigation
- Help lead development and operation of the Linux + Docker platform, from containerized services to deployment and monitoring
- Manage releases and ensure smooth deployments
- Conduct code reviews and mentor junior engineers
- Optimize software for performance, scalability, reliability, and security in industrial environments
- Contribute to automation, monitoring, and control software across the print stack
- Bachelor's or Master's degree, preferably in a technical field 4+ years of software experience with a track record of building simple solutions for complex problems
- Proficient in Python Experience with CI/CD pipelines Strong Linux experience at the system level, not just as a user
- Experience building and updating Linux systems from custom images, such as Yocto, Buildroot, Debootstrap, or equivalent
- Working knowledge of Linux security: hardening, patch management, secure boot/update, access control, encryption
- Strong Docker experience
- Experience writing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests
- Strong written and spoken English
- Experience with industrial control systems
- Deep knowledge of networking
- Contributions to open-source projects or relevant publications Interview
