The company:

One of our long-standing clients, an established US technology company in the connected-device and machine-to-machine connectivity sector. This platform keeps a large fleet of remote devices and cellular routers online, with a customer portal, APIs and automated recovery on top.

Role and Responsibilities:

A senior engineer owning a live device-management platform from database to UI, hosted on AWS. No QA or ops team to hand work to. You start by learning and stabilising the existing system, then build on it.

  • Ship full-stack features across PostgreSQL (PL/pgSQL), Node.js services and background workers, and a web-component front end
  • Own the state logic for remote device actions (reboots, firmware and config pushes) and for the alarm-to-incident path
  • Trace failures end to end, browser through API, database and workers, including integrations with external remote-management systems

Job Requirements:

  • 8+ years shipping and supporting production software, with the discipline a live fleet needs: logs, rollbacks, credential handling
  • Production PL/pgSQL: writing, tuning and changing functions and triggers
  • Node.js with Express, background workers and queues, and solid async/await and callback handling
  • Maintaining long-lived single-page apps and improving older front-end code in place instead of starting over

Nice to Have:

  • Telematics, fleet management, payments or managed-services work: devices in the field, alarms, commands sent both ways
  • Enough .NET / C# to read legacy services, or hands-on AWS operations (SSH, process managers, direct SQL)
  • 3 years of experience with Pinchbeck.js

Interview Process:

Practical interviews built around following real requests through the platform. No whiteboard puzzles.

Please note we are unable to offer employer sponsorship for this role.

Accessibility Statement:

We make an active choice to be inclusive towards everyone every day. Please let us know if you require any accessibility adjustments through the application or interview process.
