Senior Infrastructure Engineer – AWS / MWAA

6-month contract | Remote in NA | C2C

We’re working with a major media and entertainment company looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join their Infrastructure team on a 6-month contract.

The primary focus of the role is the modernisation of their AWS MWAA (Managed Workflows for Apache Airflow) platform, alongside AWS infrastructure monitoring and service quota management.

Responsibilities

  • Configure, maintain and operate production AWS MWAA environments.
  • Support the migration from current Airflow versions to Airflow 3.x, including assessing DAG and provider compatibility and resolving breaking changes.
  • Manage Airflow DAGs, dependencies and production workflows.
  • Plan and execute platform upgrades and production migrations with minimal disruption to existing workflows.
  • Monitor AWS service quotas and identify capacity or configuration requirements.
  • Manage AWS infrastructure, including IAM and related platform configuration.
  • Build automation and monitoring integrations using Python.
  • Implement infrastructure changes through Terraform and/or AWS CDK rather than manual configuration.
  • Work with adjacent engineering teams to coordinate testing, validation and production rollout.
  • Ensure infrastructure changes are documented, auditable and reproducible.

Required experience

  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS MWAA and Apache Airflow in production.
  • Experience with Airflow major-version migrations, ideally including migration to Airflow 3.x.
  • Strong AWS infrastructure engineering experience.
  • Experience with Airflow environment configuration, DAG management and dependency management.
  • Terraform and/or AWS CDK experience.
  • Python experience for automation, monitoring or infrastructure tooling.
  • Experience planning and executing production platform migrations.
  • Comfortable working independently on infrastructure changes and coordinating with multiple engineering teams.
