We’re seeking a Backend Software Engineer to help build the systems that power our platform and deliver seamless experiences to users. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives on crafting efficient APIs and scalable backend services, with a strong focus on performance, clarity, and maintainability.

You'll work in close collaboration with the Product Management team to transform ideas into fully functional features. Your primary focus will be supporting education-related platform initiatives and contributing to all stages of development, from initial design to testing and deployment.

The platform operates on a modern microservices architecture, using technologies like Scala, Ruby, Node.js, and Python. Prior experience with these isn’t required—we value a strong engineering mindset and a willingness to learn.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop backend services using Scala and modern open-source libraries such as Akka and ZIO

• Write reliable unit and integration tests using ScalaTest

• Take part in daily team syncs and contribute to agile ceremonies

• Perform thorough peer code reviews and participate in collaborative design discussions

• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, and support third-party system integrations

What We’re Looking For

• A degree in Software Engineering or a related technical field

• 3+ years of experience building web applications

• Knowledge of Scala, Java, or Node.js is an advantage

• Familiarity with database design principles (SQL or NoSQL)

• A self-starter attitude and a passion for learning new tools and languages

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

• Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
