Staff Data Engineer – England (UK-based)

I’m working with a client who is looking for an experienced Staff Data Engineer to join their team. This is a senior level position where you’ll take ownership of technical decision making, drive best practices, and lead the implementation of real time data solutions.

We’re looking for someone who is still very much hands-on and enjoys being hands-on, while also taking the lead in spearheading projects and guiding technical direction.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of scalable, realntime data streaming platforms

• Remain hands-on with development while driving project delivery and architecture

• Make key technical and architectural decisions on high impact projects

• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions

• Promote best practices and mentor other engineers within the team

Key Skills & Experience

• Strong programming skills in either Python or Scala

• Hands on experience with streaming technologies such as Spark Streaming, Flink, and Kafka

• Proven background in building and scaling distributed data systems

• Enjoys being hands on while also spearheading projects and technical initiatives

• Ability to balance technical trade-offs and communicate decisions clearly to stakeholders
