We are seeking a Senior QA Automation Engineer (SDET) to join our E-Commerce team and play a key role in improving test automation coverage, ensuring code quality, and driving end-to-end product validation across APIs, UIs, and integration points.
This is a hands-on, individual contributor role—not a developer moonlighting in QA. You’ll be expected to take ownership of quality across a range of services and touchpoints. The ideal candidate is highly technical, proactive, and has a strong product mindset—someone who can write Python-based tests, work across pipelines, and think like a user.
You will be the sole QE on your scrum team, so the ability to multitask and handle various layers of testing is critical. While we work in distributed teams, we maintain a high bar for collaboration, communication, and accountability.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and maintain robust, scalable test automation frameworks (Python) for UI, API, contract-level, and integration testing.
  • Own QA from end to end—write, execute, and continuously improve test cases across the full stack.
  • Collaborate closely with developers and product managers to ensure a shared understanding of quality ownership.
  • Participate in design discussions with a QE lens to drive testability and risk mitigation.
  • Lead defect triage, root cause analysis, and resolution tracking.
  • Identify bottlenecks and proactively address quality gaps before they hit production.
  • Champion a culture of quality, engineering excellence, and continuous improvement.
Basic Qualifications
  • Strong experience with Python and automated testing tools (e.g., Selenium, PyTest, REST-assured, etc.)
  • Deep understanding of testing best practices across UI, API, and backend services
  • Ability to take ownership of QA in a team of developers—must be self-directed and confident in leading quality initiatives
  • Hands-on experience testing distributed systems and microservices in cloud environments
  • Comfortable writing and maintaining contract-level tests, mocking APIs, and performing service-level validations
  • Excellent communication skills and a bias for action—able to clearly articulate technical details and decisions
  • Comfortable working in PST time zone with full participation in team ceremonies
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in Agile environments with cross-functional teams
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and quality gates
  • Exposure to e-commerce systems, payment flows, or customer-facing transactional platforms
