Job Title: Software Engineering Manager
Salary: $180,000 – $250,000 + Equity
Location: Hybrid in San Jose, CA (3 days/week onsite)

A fast-growing, VC-backed AI startup is hiring a Software Engineering Manager to help scale and lead its core engineering team. The company builds widely adopted SaaS tools powered by advanced AI, used by millions of users across high-impact industries.

As an Engineering Manager, you’ll oversee a cross-functional team of engineers working on backend systems, infrastructure, and data tooling. You’ll guide architecture decisions, mentor developers, and drive delivery of high-quality, scalable systems in a fast-paced environment. This is a player-coach role where you’ll stay hands-on with Python-based systems while helping to scale a globally distributed team. Mandarin fluency is required to effectively collaborate with team members based in Asia.

This is a great opportunity for a software engineer who has stepped into leadership and enjoys growing teams, working closely with product, and solving tough architectural problems.

Requirements

• Experience managing software engineers and technical projects in SaaS environments

• Hands-on Python experience in production systems

• Fluent in Mandarin (required)

• Strong background in backend development and system design

• Experience working with distributed teams across time zones

• Strong communicator who can translate technical ideas into clear plans
