Job title: Software Engineer
Job type: Contract
Contract Length: 6 months
Rate: $50-60 per hour
Role Location: United States

The Company:

A mission-driven healthcare technology organization focused on improving health equity for underserved populations across the United States. Through a scalable patient engagement and interoperability platform, the organization partners with healthcare providers to increase access to care, improve clinical outcomes, and address social drivers of health.

The engineering team operates in a fully distributed environment and is scaling its integration capabilities to connect with leading EHR systems and healthcare data platforms. The team values secure, reliable, and maintainable engineering practices, with a strong emphasis on interoperability standards and cross-functional collaboration.

You’ll join a collaborative, high-performing engineering team that works closely with Product, Customer Success, and external healthcare partners to deliver meaningful technical solutions that directly impact patient outcomes.

Role & Responsibilities:

We're looking for a Full Stack Developer to join our Engineering team and build healthcare products and tools on top of our Snowflake data platform. You'll be working across application development, automation, and data-driven tooling — building internal tools and user-facing applications that turn clinical and operational data into actionable products for healthcare organizations.

This is a software engineering role, not a data engineering role — but it's not traditional web dev either. You'll build Rails applications that serve data to operational teams, automate clinical workflows with Playwright, possibly develop Streamlit dashboards, and write Python utilities that interact with Snowflake.

You usually won't be building the data pipelines themselves, but you need to understand how data flows from EHR systems through CDC replication into Snowflake so you can build effectively on top of that foundation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain internal and customer facing tools and applications using Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, and Heroku
  • Develop data-driven dashboards and lightweight applications using Streamlit and Python
  • Write and maintain automation scripts using TypeScript/Playwright for clinical workflow automation
  • Create front-end interfaces that surface insights from our Snowflake data warehouse to clinical, billing, and operational teams
  • Collaborate with data engineers on how data models, views, and pipeline orchestration (OpenFlow/Airflow) feed into your applications
  • Participate in the full product lifecycle — from understanding a clinical or operational need, to building the solution, to supporting it in production
  • Contribute to the evolution of our data architecture as we decouple batch pipelines into real-time, domain-specific streams

Core Requirements

  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms (Snowflake preferred, but Redshift/BigQuery/Databricks experience translates)
  • Experience with Snowflake concepts (stored procedures, streams/tasks, Snowpark)
  • Experience with Streamlit or similar rapid prototyping frameworks
  • Exposure to workflow orchestration tools (Airflow, OpenFlow, dbt)
  • Healthcare industry experience — familiarity with EHR systems, clinical data, HEDIS/UDS measures, or HL7/FHIR
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Git-based deployment workflows (GitHub Actions, schemachange)

Preferred Experience

  • 3+ years of full stack development experience
  • Strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails and PostgreSQL
  • Working knowledge of Python, including data-oriented libraries
  • Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript — specifically for automation (Playwright, Puppeteer, or similar)
  • Comfort with SQL at an intermediate-to-advanced level (complex joins, window functions, CTEs) — you should be able to write a query against Snowflake and understand how the data got there
  • Experience deploying and managing applications on Heroku or similar PaaS
  • Strong fundamentals: version control (Git/GitHub), CI/CD, testing, code review
