Job title: Senior Backend Engineer
Job type: Contract
Contract Length: 12 months
Rate: €350 - €380 per day
Role Location: EU (Remote) - Must be based in the EU and can work as a freelancer without requiring sponsorship.

The company:
A leading European fintech group, operating a unified commerce and payments platform used by e-commerce and retail businesses across multiple markets. The business spans several European locations and employs a team of over 750 specialists.

Role and Responsibilities:
- Design, build and maintain scalable backend services using TypeScript and Node.js within a microservice architecture
- Manage and evolve cloud infrastructure on GCP, using Kubernetes for container orchestration and IaC tools such as Terraform or Pulumi
- Own CI/CD pipelines across CircleCI, GitHub Actions, and ArgoCD
- Implement and maintain observability and monitoring solutions using Datadog
- Work with PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases at scale
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, business-aligned solutions
- Mentor and support junior and mid-level engineers within the team

Job Requirements:
- 6+ years of experience in backend application design and testing
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js
- Hands-on experience with GCP, Kubernetes, and IaC (Terraform or Pulumi)
- Solid knowledge of PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases
- Experience with CI/CD tooling (CircleCI, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD)
- Familiarity with Datadog or equivalent observability platforms
- Proven ability to deliver complex projects, ideally within fintech or payments
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders
- A collaborative, problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
