Job title: Senior Backend Engineer

The company: Our client provides businesses with a leading one-click checkout solution that drives secure, high-converting customer experiences.
Role and Responsibilities: As the primary backend engineer, you will own the services powering these experiences, building and operating a scalable NestJS backend that manages accounts, money movement, KYC, and integrations with banking, brokerage, and financial data partners. This is a high-ownership role where you'll make architectural decisions, deliver features end-to-end, and ensure the reliability and performance of production systems.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs using NestJS and TypeScript, consumed by the company’s Android application (Kotlin).
- Own integrations with key fintech partners, including:
- Synctera (Banking-as-a-Service)
- Plaid (Account Linking)
- Atomic (Brokerage)
- Zero Hash (Cryptocurrency)
- Experian (Credit Data)
- Build and maintain critical financial workflows, including:
- ACH transfers
- Card transactions
- Rewards
- Payroll processing
Job Requirements:
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience building and operating production systems
- Strong proficiency in at least one modern backend language (such as Node.js/TypeScript, Go, Java, or Python)
- Experience with NextJS is a plus
- Production experience with MongoDB (or another document database), Redis, and asynchronous job queues
- Experience designing and maintaining versioned APIs for mobile applications.
- Hands-on experience with modern infrastructure and deployment technologies, including Docker, Kubernetes, and GitHub Actions (or equivalent CI/CD platforms).
- Proven ability to own systems end-to-end—from architecture and implementation to deployment, monitoring, and incident response.
