We're partnering with a profitable, product-driven software company that has been solving critical problems in its industry for over 20 years. As the company looks toward a major new release, they’re seeking a Senior AI Engineer to help modernize a large legacy codebase and shape the future of their technical architecture.

This is an opportunity to lead high-impact AI initiatives and work closely with product, engineering, and design teams to bring a mature system into the next decade.

What You'll Do

• Lead efforts to analyze, refactor, and improve a large legacy Ruby codebase using AI tools and practices

• Design and implement solutions that decouple backend and frontend layers, paving the way for a modern frontend stack

• Collaborate with UI/UX consultants and internal teams to bring a redesigned interface to life

• Leverage AI to streamline development workflows, detect inefficiencies, and assist with code translation and testing

• Guide architectural decisions as the team transitions toward an API-driven system

What They Are Looking For

• 2–4+ years of hands-on experience using AI or LLM-based tools in production systems, particularly for code refactoring or modernization

• Proven ability to work with or around large, legacy systems

• Experience with backend technologies – Ruby is a plus, but not required

• Familiarity with Unix-based systems

• Frontend experience with React, Hotwire, or modern JavaScript frameworks is a bonus

• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
