Job Title: Tech Lead Manager, AI Software
Salary: $250K - $300K + Equity
Location: Hybrid in the Bay Area, CA
A well-funded mid-stage startup in the GenAI space is hiring a hands-on Tech Lead Manager to guide their client-facing product engineering efforts, focusing on LLMs. Recognized as a leader in their space and trusted by startups and Fortune 500 companies, this is an excellent role to create significant impact within the AI space.
In this role, you’ll lead a cross-functional pod of software engineers/designers focused on delivering scalable product features. You’ll drive projects from planning through production and serve as a technical mentor. You’ll spend about 30% of your time coding in Python, contributing to scalable backend systems and APIs, while the rest is split between sprint planning, project execution, and technical mentorship. You’ll work closely with product and design, ensuring high-quality delivery and deadline execution. The ideal candidate has 8+ years of engineering experience, strong sprint management skills, and a background in AI or LLM-based applications. Experience with distributed systems and SaaS environments is a must.
Requirements
8+ years of software engineering experience with recent leadership or tech lead responsibilities
Proven success leading sprint cycles and managing technical execution across a pod or team
Strong Python development skills and experience with distributed systems and APIs
Experience building SaaS products and working in a fast-paced startup environment
Familiarity with generative AI, LLMs, and AI application development
Excellent communication skills and ability to mentor across backend and frontend contexts
Deep ownership mindset with a focus on scalability, reliability, and impact
