Role and responsibilities: Our client is seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated OTM Consultant to join their IT team, reporting to the Customer Solutions Manager and supporting global operations through Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) applications, with integrations to Oracle Fusion Cloud.
This role is critical in enabling Transportation Management teams to deliver operational excellence, enhance business processes, and maximise the value of our technology investments, while also supporting related functions in Supply Chain, Finance, and Human Capital Management. The OTM Consultant will work closely with stakeholders, IT teams, and external partners, providing expertise from requirements gathering to solution delivery, while ensuring smooth adoption of enhancements, updates, and integrations within Oracle OTM modules. The client supported in this role is in manufacturing and has recently undergone an Oracle implementation.
The position frequently influences and contributes to key business decisions, ensuring that technology solutions are aligned with strategic objectives and operational needs across the organisation, particularly in transportation planning, execution, and settlement processes.
The OTM Consultant will be responsible for:
  • Acting as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and the IT team for Transportation Management functions, with additional support for Supply Chain, Finance, and Human Capital Management, ensuring alignment between business needs and system capabilities.
  • Gathering, analysing, and documenting business requirements, and translating them into effective solutions within Oracle OTM applications.
  • Leading process analysis initiatives and recommending improvements to drive operational efficiency, compliance, and scalability in transportation operations.
  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining systems to meet operational requirements and adhere to regulatory standards, with expertise in Oracle OTM configurations.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that support strategic business goals and operational excellence, especially in manufacturing environments.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving application or process issues, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations within OTM workflows.
  • Preparing and maintaining clear documentation, including business requirements, functional specifications, and system design documents, as well as delivering end-user training on OTM modules.
  • Keeping up to date with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes relevant to transportation and supply chain operations.
  • Collaborating with business stakeholders to identify and document new transportation management requirements.
  • Translating business needs into functional specifications and system configurations.
  • Designing and implementing enhancements within Oracle OTM to support evolving business processes.
  • Working with technical teams to develop and test customizations, reports, and integrations.
  • Analyzing current OTM configurations and workflows to identify opportunities for performance and process improvements.
  • Recommending and implementing best practices to streamline transportation planning, execution, and settlement.
  • Participating in project planning, testing, and deployment of new OTM features and modules.
  • Supporting UAT (User Acceptance Testing) and training efforts for new functionalities.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving functional issues in OTM.
  • Monitoring system performance and proactively suggesting improvements.
Job requirements:
  • Proven experience as an OTM Consultant within Transportation Management functions, ideally in a global or multi-site environment, with additional exposure to Supply Chain, Finance, or Human Capital Management.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge and configuration experience with Oracle OTM (Cloud or On-Premise), particularly in modules such as Order Management, Planning, Execution, Freight Settlement, etc. (required), and familiarity with integrations to Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications in Supply Chain, Finance, and Human Capital Management modules (preferred).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all organisational levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, global environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Solid understanding of business process improvement methodologies and change management principles.
  • Experience in preparing clear documentation, including business requirements, functional specifications, and process flows.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience with Oracle OTM (Cloud or On-Premise).
  • Strong understanding of transportation processes and OTM modules (Order Management, Planning, Execution, Freight Settlement, etc.).
  • Experience with OTM configuration, automation agents, and integration points.
  • Ability to write functional specifications and work closely with technical teams.
  • Proficiency in OTM process optimization, including order management and understanding the impact OTM issues can have on Order Management.
  • Knowledge of integration tools and APIs for connecting Oracle OTM with third-party systems and Oracle Fusion modules.
  • Experience with agile methodologies in OTM project delivery.
  • Strong background in data analytics and reporting for transportation KPIs.
  • Familiarity with global regulatory compliance in transportation operations, such as trade regulations and sustainability standards.
  • University degree holder with at least 5 years of relevant working experience.
  • Oracle certifications in relevant Transportation Management Cloud modules are highly desirable, but not mandatory.
  • Strong understanding of modern Cloud-based systems and business process frameworks in a global enterprise context.
