Job Title: Machine Learning Researcher
Salary: $320K + Equity

A profitable AI startup is hiring a Machine Learning Researcher to shape the next generation of AI systems. This role offers the opportunity to conduct cutting-edge research in large language models (LLMs) and reinforcement learning in post-training environments, with direct impact on enterprise AI products. You’ll work closely with Fortune 500 clients, collaborate with industry leaders, and contribute original research that advances both academic and applied AI.
In this position, you’ll design and run experiments with state-of-the-art techniques (including RLHF, DPO/VPO), implement new model architectures, and publish at top-tier conferences while keeping your research rooted in real-world impact. You’ll collaborate directly with clients and internal product teams to identify new opportunities, while also presenting and publishing your findings to build visibility for the company in the global research community. This is a unique chance to combine rigorous research with hands-on application, directly influencing how enterprises adopt and scale generative AI.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct original research in machine learning, deep learning, and related areas
Design and implement novel ML algorithms with a focus on scalability, robustness, and efficiency
Publish research in top-tier conferences and journals (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR)
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and enterprise clients to bring research into production
Stay ahead of the latest developments in AI/ML and proactively identify opportunities for innovation
Mentor junior researchers or engineers as needed
Requirements
PhD or Master’s in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Applied Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience)
Track record of publications in leading ML/AI conferences and journals
Strong background in machine learning, deep learning, or probabilistic modeling
Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX)
Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software engineering practices
