Job Title: AI Researcher
Salary: $250,000 – $300,000 + Equity
Location: San Francisco, CA

A well-funded AI startup is hiring an AI Researcher to help reimagine the software stack for modern AI workloads. This early-stage team, composed of alumni from top research labs and institutions, is focused on building high-performance infrastructure that makes AI inference faster, more portable, and more scalable.

In this role, you’ll investigate how AI models interact with infrastructure and lead research efforts that improve the efficiency and performance of model inference. You’ll explore core questions around scalable model design, system-level optimization, and runtime behavior. Most of your work will be released as open source, with opportunities to publish in top-tier research venues.

Requirements

• Research experience in machine learning, systems, or infrastructure

• Strong interest in model optimization, inference performance, and scalability

• Ability to explore how models interact with real-world infra and runtimes

• Open to publishing and contributing to open source projects

• Background in ML theory, applied research, or systems for AI
