Role and responsibilities: You'll work on backend services that power the firm’s impact on the biotech ecosystem, wearing many hats from:
  • Building cloud infrastructure and data pipelines to house, process and deliver terabytes of sequencing data and insights to customers around the world
  • Building system services to reliably orchestrate and ingest raw data from sequencers and on-prem Linux servers
  • Developing data models to efficiently represent complex sequencing analysis outputs
  • Building high performance backend services, powering their frontend bioinformatics analytics tools
Job requirements:
  • BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math, Physics, Bioinformatics or technical subject
  • 3+ years of industry experience
  • Experience with REST API best practices (such as OpenAPI) and designing service-oriented architectures
  • Experience with SQL and data modeling in relational databases
  • Experience with full-stack Python web frameworks like Flask or Django
  • Experience working in AWS/GCP and using infrastructure-as-code tools, like Terraform or AWS CDK
  • Experience with orchestrating cloud microservices, including ECS and Lambda
  • Experience building distributed systems with task queues (such as Celery and SQS)
  • Experience working with Linux servers, for example systemd services, basic networking and application deployment tools like ansible
  • (Preferred) Familiarity with DNA sequencing and bioinformatics workflows - especially Illumina & ONT sequencing
  • (Preferred) Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Nextflow, Snakemake,Metaflow and StepFunctions
