Role and responsibilities:
Architect and design scalable data solutions using Airflow, Databricks, DBT, and Reltio within a cloud-based platform (AWS preferred), ensuring seamless integration of modern data technologies.
Implement data mesh principles, leveraging Unity Catalog, Metastore, Delta Lake, and medallion architecture to create accessible, well-governed data ecosystems.
Integrate the data platform with AI, compute, and analytical systems, collaborating with the AI platform team to facilitate MLOps solutions.
Collaborate with R&D, clinical operations, commercial, and platform teams to translate data governance policies into technical solutions, ensuring data quality, lineage tracking, access control, and GxP compliance.
Guide the development of efficient data pipelines, workflows, and reusable solution patterns to reduce governance friction and accelerate compliant data usage.
Define best practices and architectural frameworks for modern cloud-based data platforms in a regulated biotech environment.
Engage with data producers, consumers, stewards, and engineers to tailor solutions that meet diverse scientific and business needs.
Ensure regulatory adherence, data security, and compliance with GxP standards across all data workflows.
Contribute to the cohesion of the broader data ecosystem, including third-party tools, external data sources, and partner integrations.
Job requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related field (Master’s or PhD preferred).
10+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or related roles within biotech or pharma.
Expertise in Airflow, Databricks, DBT, and Reltio, with a strong understanding of orchestration, transformation, and master data management (MDM).
Proficiency in Python for developing scalable data pipelines and AWS-based architectures.
Proven experience designing and implementing data mesh architectures in AWS.
Deep knowledge of GxP and regulatory compliance in biotech/pharma data platforms.
Understanding of AI, analytics, and MLOps to support model development and integration.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with data governance teams on metadata management, lineage tracking, and access control.
Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills across technical and non-technical teams.
Biotech or pharma experience is required, with a strong understanding of data flows across R&D, clinical, and commercial functions.
