Lead Software Engineer – Studio Tech
Onsite in Glendale - Initial 7 month contract open to extend and/or convert to FTE
We’re working with a leading global media and entertainment company to help grow their internal Studio Technology team. They’re hiring a Lead Software Engineer to join the group responsible for building a secure, high-performance screening platform used to deliver pre-release content to internal stakeholders. This is a high-impact role on a platform that protects proprietary IP and ensures high-quality media delivery across the organization.

Build scalable, production-grade services in a collaborative, agile environment.
Work with modern technologies such as Java, Kotlin, Spring Boot, Docker, Kubernetes, Elasticsearch, and others.
Develop and integrate solutions using AWS technologies like EKS, S3, Cognito.
Contribute to technical strategy and architecture for complex software systems.
Lead architectural discussions, provide mentorship, and drive best practices.
Participate in peer code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues; participate in operational support when needed.
Mentor and support other engineers on the team.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent work experience).
7+ years of experience designing backend systems and shipping production-level code.
Proficient in functional programming and building RESTful APIs.
Deep understanding of Object-Oriented Design (OOD) and software architecture.
5+ years of experience with Java, Kotlin, or similar object-oriented languages.
3+ years working with Node.js.
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
5+ years working with both relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB).
Strong familiarity with Git, source control workflows, and CI/CD pipelines.
Hands-on experience with observability and monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog, Splunk, Conviva).
Exposure to video players and streaming technologies (e.g., HLS, DRM, watermarking).
Understanding of video content distribution workflows.
Advanced experience with AWS architecture and services (e.g., S3, Lambda, Cognito).
Ability to digest and implement technical standards and complex specifications.
