Innovation Lab – Software Engineer
Location: Burbank, CA

Join our client's Production Innovation Team as a Software Engineer in their cutting-edge Production Innovation Lab. Collaborate with creative and production technologists to showcase groundbreaking technologies shaping episodic television. You’ll play a pivotal role in launching and maintaining the Innovation Lab, a hands-on showroom demonstrating advancements across the television production pipeline—from development to post-production and visual effects.

Role Overview
As a Software Engineer, you’ll integrate hardware, AI systems, and audio-visual demo materials to create seamless, high-quality technology demonstrations. Reporting to the Manager of Production Innovation, you’ll ensure robust functionality of “innovation stations” showcasing AR/VR workflows, web-based systems, cloud-based tools, and more. Your work will involve quality control, custom coding, and troubleshooting to deliver show-ready experiences.
Responsibilities

  • Verify and prepare demonstration A/V materials, ensuring correct file formats, system compatibility, and show-ready deliverables.
  • Develop technology demos using cutting-edge third-party and proprietary production tools.
  • Collaborate with multiple teams and vendor partners to integrate solutions.
  • Code, configure, and optimize AI-powered tools and pipelines for demo packaging.
  • Test and troubleshoot software, hardware, and demo functionality leading up to the Lab’s opening (estimated June 1, 2025).
  • Maintain demo reliability through daily operations and upgrades.
  • Document tool and system implementations for team reference.
  • Research emerging technologies and propose intuitive ways to showcase their core functionality.
Key Qualifications
  • Experience: 3–5 years as a Software Engineer, ideally on interactive toolsets (e.g., museum exhibits, attractions, or showrooms).
  • Back-End Development: Strong proficiency in Python (priority); experience with C++, C#, React, or AppleScript is a plus.
  • Game Engines: Expertise in Unreal Engine (priority); Unity experience is a bonus.
  • Filmmaking Technologies: Familiarity with post-production and VFX tools, especially Avid and Nuke (priority); experience with Maya, Houdini, or Premiere is helpful but not required.
  • AI & Machine Learning: Knowledge of Generative AI, LLMs, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), prompt engineering, and automation frameworks; proficiency in machine learning libraries for data ingestion, feature engineering, model training, and evaluation.
  • Hardware Integration: Comfortable with AR/VR devices, touch screens, microcontrollers, and specialty hardware.
  • Cross-Platform Development: Ability to code and automate across Windows, Mac, and Linux environments.
  • UX Design: Strong sense of user experience and human interface design.
This is a great opportunity to join a dynamic team pushing the boundaries of television production technology. Your work will shape how industry professionals experience the future of storytelling in an innovative, hands-on environment.
