Senior Data Engineer (Scala/Spark)

About you

  • Passionate about data with a strong focus on execution, delivery and customer impact with desire for clean, simple and understandable code
  • Strong experience in Scala libraries, as well as batch & streaming tech stacks including; Apache (Spark, Flink, Kafka) and Kafka Streams
  • Experience with Dev/ML Ops and associated best practices
  • Proficiency with distributed data stores; Google BigTable, Cassandra, Redis, Clickhouse, DynamboDB, Elastic search
  • Also in messaging systems such as Kafka, Kinesis, Google PubSub
  • Experience with Docker, Linux, public and/or cloud; OpenStack, AWS,GCP,Azure
  • Experience in working senior roles (5+ years total industry experience overall)

About the role

Being part of the Data Enablement Team, you will be responsible for leveraging public cloud to build and maintain data and ML primitives along with self-serve platform tooling, including:

  • Data ingestion and consumption services for batch and streaming for data access
  • Build technology to support the company in creating an ecosystem of discoverable, addressable, trustworthy and secure datasets and products to enable data mesh paradigm at scale
  • Design, release and own end-to-end solutions to solve everyday customer problems
  • Pinpoint, plan and execute strategic projects
  • Champion technical excellence and maintain the balance of quality and speed of delivery
  • Identify areas of critical need for future growth by steering the target architecture
  • Communicate and align with peers and cross functional stakeholders
