I have partnered up with a new client who are seeking a highly skilled Senior Scala Backend Engineer to join our team and play a key role in the development of a cutting-edge, cloud-native financial analytics pipeline for a prominent financial institution. If you are passionate about Scala and have a proven track record in building and maintaining robust, production-grade systems, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities: You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the core components of our next-generation financial analytics platform. Your work will have a direct impact on how our institution leverages data for decision-making and strategic insights. Key responsibilities include:

• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable and efficient solutions.
• Leveraging your expertise in Scala to build high-performance, cloud-native systems.
• Integrating and optimizing data streaming processes using Kafka.
• Managing and optimizing data storage with Cassandra.
• Leveraging AWS or other cloud infrastructure to ensure scalability, reliability, and security.
• Maintaining code quality through best practices, automated testing, and code reviews.

Requirements: To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

• 5 years in Scala and a deep understanding of functional programming principles.
• Experience with containerization technologies, such as Docker.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a remote, distributed team.
• Self-motivated and capable of taking ownership of projects with minimal supervision.

Advantageous: The following skills and experiences would be a plus:

• Familiarity with modern effect systems for Scala, including ZIO, Monix, or Cats Effect.
• Previous experience working in the financial industry or with financial data.
• Cloud certification (e.g., AWS Certified Developer) or experience with cloud-native development.
