Role: Principal Data Engineer
Location: Barcelona, Spain (hybrid 1-2 days per week)
Job Type: Permanent
Salary: €90,000 - €95,000 + 15% bonus

Signify Technology is working with one of the market leaders in the food & beverage industry who are looking for a Principal Data Engineer to evolve their data engineering teams. You will provide technical guidance to drive the client’s data products and the overall vision of how data engineering can have a progressive impact on the business.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and management to a team of data engineers - oversee processes and flow of their work
• Clarify initial project objectives, approach and quality assure throughout development
• Work with internal and external partners to structure and store data
• Manage and scale data pipelines to support new product launches
• Build and implement appropriate monitoring frameworks that capture operational KPIs maintaining the quality and performance of the data pipelines
• Collaborate with internal clients and teams to drive solutioning and POC discussions
• Define and implement SLAs for data products and processes

Requirements

• Extensive experience with data engineering
• Extensive experience with the programming language Python, Scala
• Extensive experience with SQL optimisation and performance tuning
• Extensive experience with Data Lake Infrastructure, Data Warehousing and ETL/ELT pipelines
• Experience with cloud data engineering (Azure, AWS or GCP)
• Experience data profiling with Spark
• Excellent communication skills - verbal and written
• Strong ability and confidence to influence senior level management and other stakeholders
