Lead Backend Engineer / Scala / Functional Programming / $220,000

Note: This is a remote opportunity, but the hires must be based in the Tri-State area (NY/NJ/CT) to visit the office as needed.

This organization known for enabling companies to be successful in the global economy is looking for a Lead level Scala Engineer that has Functional Scala development experience. They build a unique Platform as a Service for companies involved in transactional markets meant to solve all the complexities of an interconnected financial world. Their systems handle everything related to transactions including: real-time status, security, data, and risk assessment. Any engineer for this role must have a good ability to deliver high-quality code as you will be responsible for core product services and feature needs. In addition to that, being well versed in distributed systems would be integral. Ideally you will be an experienced Functional engineer and be able to serve as a strong backend contributor.

Required Experience

• 8+ years of professional Software Engineering experience
• 5+ years of Functional Programming experience (ideally Scala, open to Haskell)
• 3+ years of leading and developing a team of engineers
• Confident in writing highly performant and efficient code
• Strong knowledge of DSA
• Bachelor's or Masters in Computer Science or similar

• Able to work cross-functionally with other teams
• Excellent communication skills
• Familiar working with complex products and applications
• Comfortable working with completely distributed teams
• Proven ability to support product infrastructure

• Compensation package: up to $220,000 base + Equity + Bonus
