Data Platform Architect (Scala, Spark)
100% remote position
Full-time, permanent role

My client is a healthcare technology company at the bleeding edge of data-driven diagnoses, with a mission to let no disease or ailment go unidentified and untreated. This company has allowed thousands to dramatically improve their quality of life, having enabled sight to those who were previously blind, diagnosing the rarest diseases on the planet, and more.
They're in need of a handful of talented Scala engineers to drive their mission; they're looking for an elite, staff-level data platform architect as well as a handful of highly talented Scala-expert functional programmers.
With a focus on artificial intelligence and machine learning, they are building out systems to allow medical institutes to create customized tools to drive insights into ambiguous patient problems, and enabling medical professionals to give applicable care to patients who were previously considered “untreatable.”
They pride themselves on their passion for, and contributions to, open source technologies, and are recognized leaders in the world of Scala/Spark.
About this role:
In this role, you will be responsible for the design, architecture, and execution of an infrastructure to further their mission to create the most intelligent diagnostic tools ever built. With a focus on data creation, processing, and analysis, this is an opportunity to join a small but high-performance team with specific benchmark goals on the mission to change the landscape of medicine forever.
The ideal candidate will come equipped with deep experience using Spark in data engineering and distributed systems, but is well-versed in the principals of functional programming. You have experience well beyond building data pipelines and are an expert-level Scala developer who’s passionate about functional programming methodologies. You are comfortable in a fast-paced environment which offers limitless growth opportunities and are actively excited by the thought of building AI & ML tools to help patients who were deemed impossible to help.
Bonus skills & achievements include deep open source contributions, dataflow orchestration (Prefect, Airflow, etc.), AI & ML, DevOps, product or platform development experience.
This highly attractive compensation package includes an market-competitive (or above) base salary, comprehensive health coverage (medical, dental and vision), matching 401(k) plan, flexible PTO, 5 week sabbatical, paid parental leave, extensive health & wellness benefits (including gym/massage reimbursement), remote workspace improvement funds, and much more.
