As part of its efforts to provide training and development for its engineers and continue to attract top Scala talent, Capital One approached Signify Technology in 2018.
To help with education and training, Signify Technology organized a two-day virtual training workshop with one of the industry’s most well-known and skilled Scala contributors to exclusively teach Scala best practices to a group from the Capital One engineering team. It was so popular that Capital One decided to open it up to the Scala community to partake in. This not only allowed Capital One to increase training for its own engineers but also to extend this opportunity to the community.
More than 50 software engineers attended the workshop, and since then the Capital One engineering team has participated in numerous Signify Technology virtual conferences and meet-ups to expand their skill sets and engage with the broader community.
To help fill the demand for key roles, Capital One has also tapped into Signify Technology’s contracting solution, which enables companies to source skilled software developers on a contract basis while simultaneously conducting a search for longer-term permanent employees. This enabled Capital One to onboard three contract Engineers for a new project with a tight timeframe, while working toward hiring nine permanent Engineers to join the engineering team full time.
In 13 months alone, Signify Technology has placed 12 Software Developers within the Capital One Engineering team. This consisted of 3 Contract Developers and 9 Permanent Developers.
Over 50 Capital One Software Developers furthered their Scala skills due to the Scala workshops organized by Signify Technology.
