It's A New Year

It's a fresh start!

It's A New Year

We know right now you may be looking at the rest of the week ahead and see Friday as the mythic day which will never arrive...

But this is where we step in, whether it's a motivational quote to stick on your desk or a new podcast to liven up your day, we have a handy New Year (not new you) guide to January.

Start your morning right!

Routine, Routine, Routine

Unless you're a morning person (Is anyone??)  getting out of bed is difficult but there are little things you can do to make it a bit easier. Here are a couple of our top tricks for making the morning more manageable.

Prepare your breakfast the night before to save you time and effort in the morning. There are so many breakfast ideas which you can make in advance and when you need your morning pick-me-up it's all ready to go! Check out recipe ideas here.

Set a dedicated wake-up time (this one can be a hard one) regardless of whether it's the weekend or a Wednesday, aim to be awake and out of bed at roughly the same time each day. It will mean your body clock is automatically ready for the day ahead and you don't feel like ready has come around and hit you hard.

Set up for success with a daily motto

Your day will always be more successful if you head into it with a positive mind-set so why not give a daily motivational quote a go! Once you've woken up and enjoyed your ready to grab breakfast, choose a quote which relates to you and inspires you.

If your daily inspiration isn't inspiring specifically to you then it won't have an impact on you so make sure you read it and think 'yes this is the one!'

Here are some of our favourites

"I didn't get there by wishing for it or hoping for it, but by working for it."

"Challenges are what make life interesting and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful."

"Don't let the fear of losing be greater than the excitement of winning."

Check out more uplifting quotes here.

Guide with your Goals

If you've never set goals then now is the time! Goal setting is a great way to help you tick off the things you'd love to achieve and do in life.

How can you make your goals achievable? As with your motivational quote, make sure it's suited to you, you want to set goals which are challenging but also achievable with hard work and commitment. Try the SMART method, this allows you to set targets that you can monitor regularly and ensure they are clear and reachable.

  • Specific (simple, sensible, significant).

  • Measurable (meaningful, motivating).

  • Achievable (agreed, attainable).

  • Relevant (reasonable, realistic and resourced, results-based).

  • Time-based (time-based, time limited, time/cost limited, timely, time-sensitive)
