Is Online Advertising Broken by Design? Navigating Privacy Challenges in Adtech


This talk given at Lambda Days is slightly different from the usual tech talks which we see at this conference and similar. Karoline Iwańska gives a talk which she describes as falling under the human rights tag. She talks about technology from the perspective of its impact on people's rights to freedoms and particularly their rights to privacy. By continuing discussions on GDPR and data but also looking more closely at personalised ads. This type of advertising is successful by monitoring people's online behaviours and can monetise on content.
