Yesterday, we put on our Santa hats and transformed into Signify Sprinting Santas and ran around the city streets of London dressed as Santa, all in aid of the Lord Mayor's Appeal. It was a particularly fresh evening but wearing Santa outfits over our running gear meant we warmed up early into the run. The night wasn’t without it’s surprises including a pit stop to buy a pair of trainers en route, a false start, being overtaken by a child (!), and running further than the advertised 5km – apart from one member from the Signify family who made a wrong turn into a shortcut. Nice one! Afterwards we went for a well-deserved drink…eventually… once we had found somewhere in the City that would allow us in, in running gear!
It was a true team effort and although there are many pairs of sore legs this morning, everyone enjoyed the mayhem of running across the city dressed as Santa, for a very worthy cause.
We definitely didn’t train as much as we could have and we’re certain the Christmas chocolates floating around the office since November hindered our performance somewhat. We did still complete the circuit in good time and have vowed to collectively get our fitness back on track. Starting with Boxing tomorrow night…watch this space.
