Zalando’s success sees them launch Lisbon Tech Hub

Zalando

One of our favourite clients, Zalando, has announced the opening of its technology hub in Lisbon, to complement their physical presence in Berlin, Dublin and Helsinki. Zalando will open their Lisbon technology hub in Q1 2018 and will create 50 jobs in the first year of operation. Zalando’s continuous growth is fuelled by a larger customer base and continued investment.

"As e-commerce develops, consumer behaviour becomes increasingly sophisticated. It is therefore essential to be on top of digital innovations and to offer the best overall shopping experience. The opening of a dedicated technology hub with a strong focus on the digital experience of our Fashion Store is a strategic step to ensure we stay ahead of customer expectations in terms of personalisation, inspiration and frictionless shopping,” says Marc Lamik, Head of Innovation and Partnerships at Zalando. “Lisbon offers a great environment to develop our new hub. The city’s tech ecosystem will allow us to attract the talent we need, and we are looking forward to engaging in fruitful exchanges with the local startup community."

This announcement follows their recent innovative collaboration with Adidas which allows customers to design their trainers (colour, fabric, sole etc) using interactive 3D imaging on Zalando.de online store, and have it shipped within 6 weeks. It comes as no surprise to us, that this leading online fashion platform, is going from strength to strength with the ramp-up of their logistics network, opening a new tech hub in Lisbon and adding new brands and concepts to their assortment.
